OPP Charge 35 Year Old After Damaging Wingham Hospital ED

OPP have charged an individual who caused damage to the Wingham & District Hospital Emergency Department which resulted in the ED closing.

On July 5th at around 5:50pm, police were called to the hospital after an individual had been asked to leave who was being disruptive and was unwanted.

While police were enroute, a second call came in on the same individual who was attempting to break into the locked hospital doors by using a chair to break glass.

Hospital staff put a full lock down in effect with the suspect damage both sets of entry doors and items inside the hospital.

Police arrived at 6pm and found the suspect who was non compliant with a Conducted Energy Weapon being used to gain control of the suspect where he was arrested and taking in.

As a result a 35 year old of North Huron has been charged with Mischief Over $5000, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Forcible Entry, Common Nuisance and Failure to Comply with a Release Order.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later remanded into custody.
