The CEO of Ontario Health Matthew Anderson has now advised hospitals to prepare to transfer potentially hundreds of patients out across the Province.
The move is seen as a way to free up ICU beds in harder hit areas by distributing patients to areas encountering less of an impact on their capacity.
This move is also being taken to preserve the ability for hospitals to continue to undertake time sensitive surgeries during the pandemic.
Hospitals with space are being asks to reserve a third of their ICU capacity for outside patients.
