Ontario to Lift Mask Mandate in Most Settings March 21st

Ontario will be removing the requirement to wear a mask in most indoor settings and schools as of March 21st.

Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kieran Moore spoke Wednesday morning to make the announcement which will apply to most settings excluding hospitals, congregate care settings and the long term care system and public transit.

Dr. Moore says while cases could rise, its vaccines and immunity will allow the province to deal with the virus.

“Thanks to our high vaccination rates and natural immunity that is developing as well as arrival of other therapeutic and antivirals, Ontario has the tools to manage the impacts of this virus” said Moore.

Dr. Moore says those who are most at risk should still consider wearing a mask.

Plans are in place to have the Reopening Ontario Act to expire March 28th with masking requirements in all settings to lift April 27th.
