Ontario will be moving forward with administering the 2nd dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The 2nd dose will be prioritized for those who received their first dose between March 10th-19th. While it was thought Moderna or Pfizer would be used as the 2nd dose, Dr. David Williams says, approval still needs to happen.
“The National Advisory Committee on Immunization does not recommend the vaccines of different types be used in the 2 dose series as data on the immune response following the mixed vaccine schedules are not yet available.” said Dr. Williams
Dr. Williams encourages everyone to book a vaccine when they can and to not forget to follow along with getting their 2nd dose.
