Ontario Loses More Than 355,000 Jobs Last Year

The province has lost more than 355,000 jobs last year.

The largest annual decline on current record. The loss of jobs is mostly brought on from the pandemic over the last year. On top of the lost jobs, more than 750,000 Ontarians saw their work hours cut.

The hardest hitting job sector in job loss was in accommodation and food service with over 110,000 jobs lost.

Unemployment numbers by age was at its highest for youth aged 16-24 at 22 percent.
