Ontario Imposing Restrictions in Northwest Ontario to Limit Fires

Ontario is imposing new restrictions on the construction, rail, mining and transportation industries in the northwestern part of the province to reduce any human caused fires.

This comes as 107 wildfires are active in the region with 32 of them not being under control.

Restrictions on specific drilling, using heavy machinery with rubber tires and no chains as well as rail production grinding.

Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, Greg Rickford says the new measures will help sustain Ontario’s firefighting resources.
