Ontario Expands Fourth Dose Booster Eligibility to anyone 60 years and Older

The Province announced today, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, that they are expanding eligibility for fourth doses of Covid-19 vaccine to anyone aged 60 and older as well as First Nation, Inuit, Metis and their non-Indigenous household members 18 years and older as of tomorrow.

To be eligible for the fourth booster it must have been three months since receiving their last booster.

The move expands the fourth dose from what previously was vulnerable members of the population including residents of long term care and retirement homes, elder lodges and older adults in congregate settings.

Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health has already opened up vaccination appointments for the newly eligible members of that community.

Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer for the Region says that she is pleased the provincial vaccination program continues to follow emerging evidence on vaccines. She adds that they know that immune response wanes over time and that making doses available helps us continue to protect the most vulnerable in the region.
