Ontario has earmarked $115 million dollars to see the enrollment of 6000 new students in their Accelerated Personal Support Worker Training Program. It is going to be offered at all 24 publicly assisted colleges in Ontario. It is slated to begin in April 2021. The duration of the program is 6 months.
It traditionally takes 8 months to complete.
The funding is part of the previously announced long term care overhaul strategy which will see $1.9 billion pumped into the industry over the court of 10 years beginning in 2024 and 2025.
Also announced at the same time was a $2000 grant to ease current students in PSW programs with their tuition.
