Old Mitchell Town Hall to be Demolished

The old Mitchell Town Hall will be torn down this summer. West Perth council made the choice during their meeting earlier this week.

The old town hall which originally was a high school will be torn down at a cost of around $200,000.

The planned demolition comes as a report by Darcey Cook, West Perth’s Director of Community Services says the buildings deteriorating condition, absence of historical designation and alterations made to its architectural features, demolition makes the most sense.

The building was constructed in 1924, serving as a high school until 1957.

Council voted 8-2 in support for demolition.
