The SIU has cleared an officer of any wrongdoing in an arrest in Palmerston this February which led to a suspects broken rib.
On February 23rd a man was arrested by police on Main Street at the intersection with Norman Street after a report of a domestic disturbance and property damage.
Evidence suggests the accused was aggressive towards officers and refused to surrender his arms to be handcuffed which led police to punch the man in the ribs.
SIU Director Joseph Martino says the singular strike didn’t appear to be disproportionate use of force to overcome the mans resistance and secure him in custody.
