North Perth Highlighting Swimming Lessons During National Drowning Week

With National Drowning Week coming to a wrap, the message of taking measures to avoid easily preventable deaths in the water still remains key locally.

Over 400 Canadian deaths occur each year being water related.

North Perth Manager of Programs, Kelly Broughton says the importance of National Drowning Week is simple but also one we can’t put on the back burner.

“The majority of the drownings are preventable, over 400 Canadian deaths happen each year that are water related which could be prevented. It’s very important to get the word out there of the safety of water and what to do in those situations” said Broughton.

Broughton adds there are a long list of private and group swimming lessons available for all ages, including adults who want to learn how to swim themselves.

“It’s amazing how many adults we have that come in and say they want to learn how to swim for their child. They want to make sure they also have the skills. Our adult lessons are an excellent option for those who want to learn.”

Programs offered by North Perth for group or private swimming’s lessons as well as advanced aquatics and swim teams can all be found from the North Perth website.
