In an effort to keep firefighters healthy and the regular exposure to carcinogens while responding to emergencies, the Municipality of North Perth has purchased advanced equipment to protect firefighters.
A new decontamination washer has been purchased through the Firefighter Protection Grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General, this washer is a purpose built cabinet washer which is used to decontaminate SCBA cylinders, packs, masks, boots, gloves and helmets.
The unit made by Circul-Air in Cavan, Ontario this washer is part of the North Perth Fire Departments decontamination strategy aimed to reduce cancer among firefighters.
The unit was purchased last year but only received and installed recently.
