The Ontario Governments proposed legislature known as Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act is gaining much local ire, including in North Perth council.
Residents, conservation authorities and farmers have expressed their concerns of the bill, mainly of the removal of protected environmentally sensitive lands and farmland from urban development.
Councilor Dave Johnston did not hold back, saying North Perth will pay the bill of urban centre development.
Many other councilors joined Johnston to vent the issues they have with Bill 23 and the harm it can do to the municipality, who have felt left out of the conversation from the provincial government.
Alan Rothwell also did not hold back, saying municipalities are not being considered at all in the bill.
Council intends to go forward in sending a letter, expressing their concerns of Bill 23 to Premier Ford, The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as well as Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae.
