North Perth Council Re-Discuss Dog Park

Talks of having a dog park added in North Perth has been a discussion since 2013.

Talks have been very on and off since then with a decision only gaining small ground at a time. Prior to the pandemic, the municipality had been in talks with Wag ‘N’ Tails Dog Park Inc working the finances and rules.

As the pandemic swept across the region it was mutually agreed to pause the idea of a dog park.

Talks ramped up again in January this year from the public engagement process of the Memorial Arena Park Redevelopment Concepts Survey.

Amy Gangl, Manager of Programs for North Perth says they’ve been busy doing research and reaching out to other communities to see how they run their parks.

“We’ve reached out to many dog parks, we’ve researched websites, we’ve spoken with individuals and talked about the pros and cons. Owen Sound was one of them.” said Gangl.

Many councilors were very much in favour of continuing the process of getting a dog park in North Perth. Conversation of the next steps will be discussed at a future council meeting next month.
