Saturday was the Coldest Night of the Year for United Way across many communities, including in North Perth.
Around 131 walkers took part in the walk in Listowel which started at Listowel Chrysler with donations going back to support the North Perth Connection Centre.
Lee-Anne Andriessen, Chair of the North Perth Community Committee with United Way says the event really puts into perspective what those less fortunate go through.
“Seeing what the needs are in our community and what it might be like if those living rough outside and homeless what that is like day to day. I can’t even imagine that but my heart goes out to them and I know the community really cares and wants to support those who are struggling.” said Andriessen.
Andriessen was also very grateful to not only the community support from residents but local businesses such as Stop 23, Listowel Chrysler, Canadian Tire, Scotiabank and more.
Fundraising continues into March with the local goal just a few thousand short of the $68,000 total.
