North Huron Recreational Fees Pushing Away Local Teams

North Huron council’s decision to increase recreational fee’s is already having its impact on sports teams who are now looking elsewhere.

The Blyth Ladies Baseball team spoke to council on Monday to request fee’s to be reduced for the upcoming season.

Chastity Bos who spoke on behalf of the team says the rate increase is much higher than they can even consider.

“We understand that costs have gone up and rate increases are inevitable. If the increase was truly 17 per cent then that would be an increase of $214.92 cents over last year and those are numbers we could work with but an increase of $767.90 is unreasonable when that is the total cost of the two diamonds we rent over the entire summer” said Bos.

Council accepted the delegation for information but no support was immediately given to the team.

Bos says they’ll be looking elsewhere to take their games instead of Blyth.
