Huron County OPP have updated the public in regards to a suspicious person offering a ride to a child.
On March 23rd, OPP received a report of a middle grade elementary student waiting at the front of their home at 4pm for a ride from a family member when an unfamiliar vehicle showed up and asked if they were hitchhiking and needed a ride.
Following investigation police were able to identify and speak with the occupants of the vehicle and are confident there was no malicious intent and rather a genuine concern for the child’s well being and safety.
OPP are still asking parents to regularly engage with their kids about personal safety.
