Boosting the wireless signal in Monkton has been proposed with a new communications tower from SignumWireless.
The proposed location is on the property of 126 Monkton Street West.
The tower would accommodate wireless antennas for the purpose of providing wireless communication coverage and network capacity.
Brandon Chiu from FONTUR International representing SignumWireless says the self supported 60 metre tower would allow for 3 network carriers to have their equipment on the tower instead of having multiple separate towers for themselves and freeing up space.
“As opposed to Rogers, Bell, Telus all owning a tower in one area, there would be one tower owned by SignumWireless with all 3 carriers operating off of it.” said Chiu.
No comments or inquiries on the proposed tower has yet been received.
Some councilors did say they were pleased to see the interest in boosting wireless signal for the residents of Monkton.
Council is expected to receive a 2nd report at a future meeting.
