Nearly 85,000 Homeless in Ontario in 2025 New Data Finds

There were more than 85,000 homeless people in Ontario in 2025 coming from new data by the Association of Municipalities in Ontario.

Wellington County, as the Service System Manager for Housing Services is highlighting this new data.

The report the number of homeless is up eight per cent from 2024 and represents a 50 per cent increase since 2021.

The report also notes homelessness is growing the fastest in rural and northern communities with rural homelessness up 30 per cent last year.

Wellington County Warden Chris White says the county does remain committed to act and public funding for housing and homelessness supports has increased but it isn’t enough to tackle this incredibly complex crisis.
