Moving for a Movement to help raise funds and awareness to Indigenous Communities will take place in Listowel next week.
The walk is to help shine a light on the lack of safe drinking water across many Indigenous communities in the country. Proceeds will go to Water First, a group dedicating to providing clean drinking water to all communities.
Lindsey White says the event is a great way to get out and exercise while raising awareness.
“Myself, Lynn Housser and Lana Anderson decided we could have a night where we move our bodies for a cause and that’s how Moving for a Movement came up. We decided to make it a fundraiser.” said White
White adding the importance of the fundraiser and Water First essential.
“We just want to bring awareness to the fact that 40 percent of Indigenous communities in Ontario have a boil water advisory.”
Moving for a Movement will kick off Thursday July 22nd at 7pm on the grass by the walking trail at the Kin Station. Donations can be made at the walk or online.
