The Mount Forest Community Centre has been closed following an inspection by the township’s building and fire department.
Orders have been issued identifying code compliance matters in relation to the deterioration of the building.
The community centre is over 50 years old and there was signs of it nearing its end of life when it was first closed in 2008 but following the closure, the facility was leased to a community group who assumed responsibility for ongoing maintenance.
Township resumed management in 2025 with several assessments being completed including structural, plumbing and public health conditions but following this winter, a more comprehensive review was necessary.
A report on the centre will be brought to a council meeting later this year.
