When it comes to charitable giving there is no better way to make it have the biggest impact than to pair it with a local business that is already a pillar of the community and make it possible for them to return their customers generosity by making donations go further.
This is what happened in the case of the Lowe’s Canada Heroes Campaign. Lowes Canada and Rona Locations throughout Canada partnered with a non-profit organization or public school as their destination for fund raised dollars.
Locally Moffatt and Powell Rona with locations in Atwood, Exeter, Hanover, Mitchell, Seaforth, and more raised money for organizations such as the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce, the South Huron Hospital Foundation, the Tanner Steffler Foundation, the Atwood Lions Club and the Optimist Club of Mitchell.
The generosity of local residents in each area saw a total donation from all 9 Moffatt & Powell Rona’s of $49,584 dollars.
Moffatt & Powell Rona has been supporting the community since 1956 when J. Keith Moffatt and Melvin Powell formed the business in Watford, Ontario.
They started with 2 owners and 2 staff and have grown from there.
The company has grown over the years from it’s humble beginnings to grow to 3 stores in 1973, to 5 stores in 1982 which added Mitchell and then to 7 stores shortly there after adding Goderich and Exeter. Over the years Seaforth, Zurich and Hanover were added as well.
