Minto Holding Stand United Event in Harriston

The Town of Minto alongside the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee is holding an evening of celebration standing against hate and discrimination.

The event held on June 28th is welcoming all to gather at the Harriston-Minto Community Centre Pavilion in Harriston to listen to speakers, participate in activities and more.

Erin Raftis, Minto’s Marketing and Community Development Coordinator says this event started a few years ago after a video posted to Tiktok referencing the murder of a Muslim family in London was found to have originated in Harriston.

“A couple years ago we did have that and we pulled together an event in a weekend to support our Syrian community and show them that Minto is a welcoming community and that there is a place for them.” Raftis

The Stand United event will be held from 6:30-8:30pm with a Harriston resident and member of the Syrian community leading in a traditional dance with another performance with an Afro-Tribal dance.

The event is free to attend. Donations for future Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion events will be accepted.
