Last week might have been one of the busier weeks in recent time for the Minto Fire Department.
Firefighters from the tri-fire services responded to a total of seven field and farm machinery related fires across the communities.
The department says it was the quick reporting, cooperation on scene and assistance with equipment by local farmers and agricultural partners which helped bring these incidents under control.
The Minto Fire Department says with dry conditions and high temperatures, farm machinery can quickly become an ignition source with farmers asked to regularly clean combines, balers and tractors, check bearings, belts and moving parts for overheating or excessive wear and keep a charged fire extinguisher readily available on all equipment.
