Minto council is supporting a move of the Palmerston Food Bank.
The food bank has historically operated out of the Palmerston United Church but in early 2021, volunteers approached town staff about using an alternate building as the existing space was proving to have some physical challenges.
The town’s Community Service Department has also been looking for additional storage space and identified Unit 2 at 215 William Street as ideal for the food bank and services department.
Matt Lubbers, Director of Community Services says supporting the move is nothing new for the town.
“This isn’t something new as we’ve helped the Clifford and Harriston Food Banks relocate to town owned facilities over the past decade or so” said Lubbers.
The Palmerston Food Bank will move to the new site, between the EarlyOn Centre and one of the town’s well houses.
The space is already renovated to be used as a food bank and storage for the town.
