Minto Council Shares Concerns Regarding Provincial Housing Legislature

Minto council is showing concern on provincial moves which are aimed at improving affordable housing who say the moves are doing more harm than good and create red tape instead of fixing the issue.

A report from Triton Engineering, shows homes in the urban areas of Minto are selling around $1 million which keeps first time buyers out of reach.

Minto council showed their support in principle for a resolution from the Township of Cramahe to oppose various parts of the province’s Bill 109 – the More Homes for Everyone Act.

Minto’s resolution states Bill 109 increases red tape and municipal reporting obligations contrary to the recommendations of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force.
