Baseball players from across Midwestern Ontario are heading to Cuba to take part in a weeks long session of games.
This has been something in the works since September last year, at the end of the lase baseball season.
With around 9 communities being represented, including in Listowel, the team will compete in 6 games over the next seven days.
Coach Brian Leary says the competition they’ll face will be fierce.
“This is the third or fourth team I’ve taken down, I’ve joined others. Cuba is the hotbed of baseball. Their system is completely different from ours, they work through their schools. We’re competing against a special school just for baseball” said Leary.
The team departs for Cuba tomorrow. Those who want to follow along can get updates from the WOBA association.
