March 7th to 13th is Social Work Week in Ontario

The first week of March is honoured as Social Work week in Ontario.

The Avon Maitland District School Board took the opportunity to thank the Social Workers that work in their schools.

The Association of Social Workers in Ontario says it’s a time for the profession to come together, advance their shared goals through collective advocacy and celebrate and spotlight social workers contributions towards essential mental health access, support and recovery for all in the Province.

The group says the week comes at a pivotal moment in mental health. Two years into the pandemic, those in Ontario are navigating the mental health impacts of anxiety, stress and burnout like never before.

They add that across the Province, across the Country and the globe people are looking for hope and for signs of brighter days as they naviage the complex challenges and an even more complicated world.
