Mapleton water system is safe but needs some work in near future

The Township of Mapleton received results from a provincially mandated water system report that shows the water from the Township’s system is safe to drink but that the infrastructure requires immediate upkeep maintenance and repairs in the very near future with a cost estimated at $1.8 million dollars.

Ryan Steckley from CIMA+ presented the report that in addition to the immediate concerns also outlined work needed in the next 5 and 10 years of operations. Those amounts came back at $1 and $1.2 million dollars respectively.

The town also heard that once the Water Tower planned for Drayton is constructed, there would be less reliance on the existing pumping station in Drayton.
