LWHA President & CEO issues statement on Listowel Hospital Fire

The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance has provided more details on a fire that broke out within the construction zone on the 2^nd floor of the Listowel Memorial Hospital Tuesday Morning.

In the release Karl Ellis, President & CEO says that all staff and patients were evacuated to the ground level and were safe and accounted for.

Due to smoke damage on both the 1^st and 2^nd floor inpatient units, hospital inpatients are being transferred to seven neighbouring, regional hospitals.

The Listowel Memorial Hospital Emergency Department has fully reopened as of Tuesday afternoon.

The LWHA does not anticipate having full access to their inpatient beds for several weeks.
