Logan’s Mill in Brussels will be getting some life back into after the Maitland Mills Association has taken ownership of it.
The association, a group of business owners have plans to restore Logan’s Mill and have it turned into a self-guided mill museum.
The group further also obtained charitable status meaning they can go forward with fundraising and making structural modifications.
Association Chair Ralph Laviolette says getting ownership will clear the way to go ahead with their plans.
“When Maitland Valley Conservation Authority owned the mill, we couldn’t legally repurpose the mill as an outside group. With that ownership issue settled, we can now move forward with structural assessment and fundraising, and we plan to use equipment retrieved from two mills that were built in the 1850s and closed in the 1960’s” said Laviolette.
Laviolette adds the Association hopes to have an opening date come late 2027.
