Listowel Library Refresh Coming to a Close

After over 20 years, the Listowel Branch of the North Perth Public Library is getting a bit of a makeover.

Near the end of the month, work will take place marking the last and largest step of the library’s branch refresh project which started in 2023.

Among this work will see the historical Carnegie portion be untouched but be brightened to improve visibility and create a more welcoming space with crews painting all the walls of the 5500+ square foot space.

Manager of Branch Experience, Allie Purcell says this work isn’t expected to have much effect on spring programming.

“The vendor has assured us there will be no issues with the fumes, programming will continue as scheduled and service will be impacted however we don’t know what that looks like yet so there will be updates on a daily basis, staff will be coached and kind of know what areas are accessible and which are not and we will have clear signage to make it evident on where people can go” said Purcell.

The work not impacting programming is ideal as it continues to be a rather busy season at the Library branches with a slew of free programming for both kids and adults.

The work begins April 27th and is expected to last until May 8th.

Staff are sending their thanks to the public for their patience over the last few years as the space gets updated to improve patron experience.
