Listowel Hospital Foundation Gala See’s Most Successful Year Yet

The Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation held its 10th anniversary gala recently to a record selling crowd and total fundraising success.

Held at the Elma Community Centre in Atwood, the gala featured live entertainment, prizes as well as a live and silent auction to go towards the replacement of the ultrasound machine for diagnostic imaging and laparoscopic tower for OR.

The gala this year saw 210 in attendance which made its return for the first time since the pandemic.

Chairperson for the Hospital Foundation, John MacDonald says the total brought in was a true record smash.

“The gala this year raised over $610,000 which is a record, we’ve never raised that much money at a gala before.” said MacDonald.

MacDonald adds they will continue to look at the needs of the hospital such as potential upgrading the Fisher clinic to continue to better serve the community with future gala’s as a forefront of support.

“Kind of in the near future will be the Fisher Clinic. It was built in 2012, we had 10 physicians and we now have 13 and we’re in a growing community. We’re definitely looking at opportunities to expand and renovate. I could see the gala and foundation being a key part of being able to have a clinic support the growing community as it is now.”
