Helping celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Listowel Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a celebration is set to take place next weekend with the annual Listowel Greenhouses Spring event.
Going May 9th and 10th, the event is helping kick in for Mother’s Day with crafts, a bake sale and more all while raising funds to directly support the Listowel Memorial Hospital.
Rhonda Beirnes, member of the Auxiliary says where they’re focusing this year on putting their funds.
“We are fundraising for blanket warmers which if anyone has ever been in the hospital as a patient will know and appreciate a warm blanket when you’re in a trauma situation. Blanket warmers don’t come cheap, they’re about $16,000 and we’re looking to purchasing two of those.” said Beirnes.
As part of the 80th anniversary of the Auxiliary which was formed shortly after World War II, the organization is launching a history book of the group and will be published with the sale launching during the weekend.
