If you taken strolls through the Listowel Memorial Park you’ll have noticed the work underway the dam as removal was taking place.
Work has officially wrapped up as most fencing and crews are no longer present. This has been a discussion among council to have the dam removed for many years going almost as far as 2006.
The decision on the dam removal came as a way to help bring a healthier, free flowing Maitland river across town.
Council after discussion with the Maitland River Conservation Authority adopted to go for a natural revitalization plan for the Memorial Park area which include removal of the dam.
