Heading into the next municipal election, there are a handful of Mayors who will go unopposed and either hold their spot or succeed one who isn’t seeking re-election.
The nomination period closed Friday afternoon as campaigning has begun with the election taking place October 26th.
Doug Kellum was the only candidate for Mayor in North Perth who is now set to take over for Mayor Todd Kasenberg who intends to retire.
In Minto, Dave Turton is going unopposed again who also had no opponents in his run for Mayor in 2022.
Steve McCabe will have competition in the Mayors seat in Wellington North with Kelly Dimick in the hunt.
Perth East is a two way race between Jerry Smith and Hugh McDermid.
In North Huron, Mitch Wright, Trevor Seip, William Darling and Stephen Hill seek the role of Reeve while in West Perth Dean Trentowsky will look to keep his role as Mayor, going against Doug Eidt.
