There will be one less familiar name to expect on the ballot for the municipal election in the Wallace Ward.
Julie Behrns, who has served in council since 1994 has chosen to not seek re-election.
Behrns first served as a Wallace councilor in 1994 then after amalgamation in 1998, served as Ward Councilor.
Throughout the years, Behrns has also served the municipality as Deputy Mayor and Mayor.
A student from Listowel District Secondary School and Conestoga College graduate, Behrns also served on Perth County council during her time representing the county as Warden for 3 consecutive years from 2009-2011.
In 2012, Behrns was recognized for her contributions, being named a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
