It Takes a Village is helping raise awareness on homelessness by camping outside the Listowel branch of the North Public Library.
From 8am Saturday February 27th to 8am on Sunday, Andrea Charest will be outside as part of the “This is Home” campaign for the month. Charest says as this community grows, its important to remember issues like homelessness also grow.
“With our community growing and infrastructure growing, more houses are coming. We have to expect other concerns are going to grow as well and we need to be wide open, take an honest look at what’s happening in our community and address that.” said Charest.
Charest added she’ll only be armed with what the Village would be giving out.
“We will get only the gear to stay outside that the Village would give someone who showed up in the Village with no other housing options and that they would sleep outside.”
Donations are being accepted at the Village and at the Listowel Florist, the goal is to raise $2400, $100 per every hour Andrea spends outside.
