Huron Perth Medical Officer of Health assures residents AstraZeneca Vaccine is safe

Huron Perth Public Health held a media update today. Medical Officer of Health Miriam Klassen offered a clarification on Ontario’s use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in light of some European countries pulling distribution of a batch of the vaccine after isolated cases of issues with a few people getting vaccinated.

Dr. Klassen says that the supplies from the Countries in question are from a European manufacturing facility and Canada’s current supply is made in India.

She also added that the nature of those receiving the vaccine around the world also means that other health care factors may be at play in terms of the clotting issues seen.

She reassures residents that the supply is safe and that all factors in terms of allergies and other conditions are considered before a vaccination is administered.
