The Huron Out of the Cold: Heart to Home emergency cold shelter will be extending their hours.
With the extension, staff will be able to continue to offer those in need overnight accommodation and add a day use centre. Shelter guests will also receive wrap around support, including meals.
The shelter is staffed by the Heart to Home Stability Team who have been trained in trauma informed care, substance use and mental health services.
Since opening the shelter in 2020, 16 individuals have been successfully permanently homed with assistance from the team who continue their work this year.
The Emergency Cold Weather Shelter is located at Lakeshore United Church at 56 North Street in Goderich.
It’s hours are Monday to Friday 9am until noon for day use, closed noon until 2:30pm for cleaning, 2:30 to 5:30 pm for day use (beginning January 12th), 5:30 to 7pm closed for evening setup and open 7 pm until 8 am the next day for overnight guests. No admissions after 10pm.
Saturday to Sunday and Holidays it is open 5pm to 8am for overnight guests. No admissions after 10pm.
