Huron East is looking ahead with a process which could see the merger of the Grey and Brussels Fire Departments together under one roof in Brussels.
CAO Brad McRoberts presented a report which proposed the idea of merging the report which was first brought forward last December.
A new facility which would be built is estimated to cost around $5 million on top of any land purchase costs while the municipality would also earn $1 million from the sale of the former Grey and Brussels fire halls and public works shop buildings.
Council approved to move forward with more details including cost analysis and public consultation expected in the near future.
