Huron County to build new Paramedic Base Unit in Brussels

Huron County Council heard from Chief Emergency Services Officer Jeff Horseman at its most recent Council meeting where he presented the designs for the upcoming Brussels Paramedic Base office.

Previously paramedic crews in Brussels were positioned in the Huronlea Long Term Care Facility, but during the pandemic were required to leave because of the risk of Covid with their seniors so they temporarily made the Brussels firehall their home.

The plan is to now renovate the firehall and add an attached Paramedic Base.

As paramedics currently report out of Wingham before work in Brussels, the new base will mean directly reporting to Brussels.

This is expected to add 2 hours of coverage per day with travel time reduced.

The estimated cost of the new facility is between $900,00 to $1 million dollars.
