HPPH Investigating Potential First Case of Omicron Variant


Huron-Perth Public Health is investigating a potential Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the region.

The case involves community exposures on Saturday, December 4th from two locations in Huron County.

The investigation includes the Pink at the Rink tournament held recent in South Huron, though public health is working with organizers to identify high risk contacts, though some possible exposure may not being able to trace.

Anyone who was in attendance at Stephen Arena in South Huron and Hensall Arena in Bluewater on Saturday December 4th must immediately monitor for symptoms, should you experience symptoms of COVID-19 to isolate immediately and arrange for testing and continue to isolate until results are received.


The case screened tested positive for S Gene Target Failure which is a marker for the Omicron variant. Public Health is reaching out to those who have been identified as a high risk contact and who needs to isolate and get tested.

Anyone who recieves contact from Huron Perth Public Health must follow the direction and guidance of public health officials.
