The Listowel-Wingham Hospital Alliance is celebrating one year since the obstetrics program at the Listowel Memorial Hospital reopened.
There was a temporary pause in the program in 2024 due to multiple staff on maternity leave which brought a halt to the vital service.
Fourteen core clinical staff and five family physicians have provided labour, delivery, obstetrical care with the team on track to support over 130 deliveries this year.
Esther Miller, CEO of the Hospital Alliance says when faced with the challenge of needing to pause the program, staff stepped forward to work extra hours and make sure they could reopen stronger than ever.
