HPPH says this is the third case in Huron Perth this year. The first 2 results were in bats.
Public Health says these cases are almost always fatal. The virus is carried to animals by the saliva from infected animals. Rabies is normally spread to humans through a bite or contact with saliva through a scratch, cut or moist tissues.
HPPH urges residents to make sure their dogs and cats, including barn cats have up-to-date rabies vaccinations.
