A $4.08 million project on Highway 89 reconstruction in Mount Forest has been awarded to Cox Construction.
Last year as part of the Connecting Links Program application by Wellington North, the province agreed to fund the maximum of $1.42 million of the project which was originally only planned to cost $2.14 million.
The project will see reconstruction of Queen Street East from roads, to underground water and storm sewers replacements.
Cox Construction was the only group to submit a bid leaving out any level of competition.
Once taxes and engineering is factored in the costs, the total for the project went nearly 2 million over expected costs at $4.08 million.
Work could start as early as mid-May and finish before October.
