The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance is working on the first phase of a $7.6 million Patient Room Rebuild Project which will begin on June 12th at the St Marys Memorial Hospital.
To make way for the project, ten beds will be moved to the Stratford General Hospital.
The work will include a variety of improvements including wheelchair accessible washrooms and new mechanical patient lifts.
There will not be any impact on patient care while the work is being done with the second phase starting in 2024.
Andrew Williams, President and CEO of the healthcare alliance says any patients that are moved will be cared for by members of the St Marys hospital so no interruptions in employment will be disturbed.
