The initiative is one of the communities, community leaders learn and share best practices for implementing circular economy strategies and policies and access to mentorship and support from advisers.
The initial communities included Calgary, Mississauga, York Region, Vancouver and St. Johns Newfoundland.
Guelph and Wellington County now join the CCRI for the 2022-23 period.
The importance of the movement is because cities currently consume 75 percent of natural resources, produce over half of the global waste and emit between 60 to 80 percent of greenhouse gases.
