Grey Bruce Public Health has received reports of two fatal opioid overdoses within the past week.
Public Health is appealing to people who use unregulated street drugs to exercise extreme caution & follow critical harm reduction recommendations.
Fentanyl is the suspected opioid responsible for the overdoses.
Program Manager of GBPH’s Harm Reduction portfolio says all street drugs should be deemed highly toxic & potentially fatal.
They urge everyone who uses them to take extra precautions like carrying a naloxone kit, not to mix substances, and start with a low dose and increase slowly.
