Ontario Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner was in Stratford joined with local green candidate Ian Morton to chat with residents and discuss action and mobilize as a community to go against Bill C-5.
The bill which received Royal Assent on June 26th allows cabinet to quickly grant federal approvals for projects considered in the national interest such as mines, pipelines, ports and step over existing laws.
The Bill allows cabinet to suspend provincial and municipal laws with the creation of “special economic zones” and has been widely pushed back by the opposition.
Schreiner says he has spoken to people across the province who are fed up with Doug Ford’s reckless power grabs adding its people power which will allow them to kill Bill 5.
